Why are Fillers popular and what are the benefits?

Our skin and tissues go thin and loosen with age, and lips tend to become thinner, creating wrinkles. This is more obvious in the facial region and its skin. Regular frowning and squinting can also create wrinkles and lines, and give you a sad and tired facial look, which does not reflect the real you. For a rejuvenated look the removal of these lines and wrinkles is essential.

Injectable fillers are designed to fill out, and remove or plump up those wrinkles, lines and creases, restoring a more youthful and "refreshed" facial look. They are also very effective in making full, thin and narrow lips, enhancing the facial appearance. We also offer deep dermal fillers that are used to enhance the cheeks and chin and are non-surgical alternatives to implants.

Short acting fillers are mostly based on Hyaluronic acid. Naturally present in the skin, hyaluronic acid preserves moisturising levels in the skin and boosts tone. It is a powerful moisturising agent, the quantity of which in the dermis gradually decreases with age. As a result, the skin dries out and becomes fragile, and the first wrinkles appear.

We use the fillers that are natural and in gel form. This flows easily and smoothly into the skin, thereby instantly filling out those troublesome lines, resulting in a smooth and natural look and feel. The best thing is that after a filler injection you will notice an immediate difference.

As we all know that the lips are an important part of facial beauty, be it a smile or a kiss. The concept of beauty may vary from culture to culture, but certain things are common. Fuller lips with well-defined borders (the white line) are widely accepted as attractive.

Juvederm

It is a hyaluronic acid based filler, which exists naturally in your skin. Juvederm comes in different strengths and forms. It is in the form of a natural and biodegradable gel, and is used to remove fine and deep lines and wrinkles, as well as for lip and cheek enhancement. Results with Juvederm usually last between 4 to 6 months. It is one of the most popular fillers we use.  Juvéderm® VOLUMA® is used to provide volume to the cheeks and chin and to recontour the face.
 
Depending on your treatment you may notice a return of the soft, full cheeks, and firm, high cheekbones of youth, a marked return of the smooth jowls and jawline and the firm chin of youth.  The results may last up to 18 months.

Teosyal

Teosyal is also a hyaluronic acid based, wrinkle-filling product. It has different forms, including First Line, Kiss and Deep Line.  These products are highly biocompatible and are slowly absorbed. This lasts between 4 to 7 months.

Radiesse

Radiesse is the one of the latest non-surgical facial contouring fillers, that delivers an immediate and longer lasting result. Developed with safety and longevity in mind, Radiesse is a new generation injectable filler that offers superior versatility for both cosmetic and reconstructive use without surgery. The results usually last up to 18 months.

Aquamid

Aquamid is a revolutionary new product for the treatment of lines and wrinkles in your skin. Aquamid is a completely transparent gel containing 97.5% water and 2.5% crosslinked polymer. This unique gel is injected into the skin with a fine needle, where it immediately fulfils its purpose. Aquamid is a non-resorbable, lasting injectable implant for facial corrections. It is said to last 3 to 5 years.

What does the procedure of injecting a Filler involve?

A mild anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated and left on for around 30-40 minutes. The filler is then injected using a very fine needle into the skin beneath the wrinkle. For lips, a dental block can be used if you prefer. Results are visible immediately. The filler dissolves naturally over a period of months.
 
What are the Risks and Likely After-Effects?

The fillers we use are non-toxic, non-allergenic products, which do not contain any animal ingredients. They have all been used safely on thousands of patients over many years. Side effects are minimal, though you should expect a little discomfort whilst being injected, and you may experience some short term bruising and swelling afterwards. If you wear make-up you should avoid doing so until the day afterwards.
